Air pollution is becoming an increasingly serious problem in many cities across Indonesia. To stay healthy amid worsening air quality, here are some important steps that can be taken:

  1. Wear a Mask When Going Outside
    When air quality is poor, wear an N95 or KN95 mask. These masks can filter harmful fine particles and protect your respiratory system from pollution exposure.

  2. Keep Indoor Air Clean
    Make sure the house is clean from dust and dirt. Use an air purifier to filter indoor air. You can also add houseplants like snake plants, which are known to effectively help filter pollutants.

  3. Monitor Air Quality Daily
    Before going outside, get into the habit of checking the Air Quality Index (AQI). If the numbers indicate unhealthy air, reduce outdoor activities and stay indoors.

  4. Avoid Cigarette Smoke
    Cigarette smoke is also a form of pollution. Avoid smoking and stay away from areas filled with cigarette smoke to reduce the risk of respiratory problems for yourself and others.


  5. Increase Consumption of Healthy Foods
    Fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, such as oranges, kiwis, and nuts, can help the body combat the harmful effects of pollution. Vitamins C and E are great for maintaining immune health.

  6. Stay Active with Indoor Exercise
    If the air outside is not friendly, maintain fitness by doing indoor exercises like yoga, aerobics, or light workouts at home.

  7. Reduce Use of Private Vehicles
    To help reduce emissions, try switching to public transportation, cycling, or walking if possible. The fewer private vehicles on the road, the cleaner the air that is breathed.

  8. Work Together for Clean Air
    Fighting air pollution is not only the government’s responsibility but everyone’s. Encourage family and friends to care for the environment, and support policies promoting eco-friendly transportation and urban greening.
