Until the first semester, the investment returns of the life insurance industry are still growing positively

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. It seems that positive sentiment also boosted investment assets in Life Insurance in the middle of this year. The Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) noted that the total placement of investment funds in the life insurance industry during the first semester of 2021 reached Rp 510.5 trillion.


If you look at AAJI's data, investment returns reached Rp 312.4 trillion in stock and mutual fund (RD) instruments in the first half of this year, an increase of 20.4% compared to the same period in the previous year which amounted to Rp 259.5 trillion. The surge pushed the placement of funds across all instruments to reach a total of Rp 510.5 trillion, an increase of 14.7%.


The increase in contribution to the stock portfolio, in particular, was due to the increasingly conducive condition of the Indonesian capital market in the first semester of 2021. "This condition is marked by an improvement in the composite stock price index (JCI) by 22 percent, when compared to the same period in 2020," said Chairman of the AAJI Management Board, Budi Tampubolon at a press conference, Tuesday (14/9).


BNI Life is still experiencing growth in investment portfolio returns, with the total BNI Life Investment Portfolio as of August 2021 reaching Rp 19.8 trillion, an increase of 10% compared to last year. GM of Corsec, Legal & Corcomm BNI Life Arry Herwindo said, as of August 2021, BNI Life's largest portfolio was fixed income of 14.6 trillion (including the composition of fixed income in mutual funds) or 74% of the total portfolio.


"The largest portion is in fixed income because the market tends to be more stable when compared to the current fairly volatile stock market. We also maintain asset liability matching, to meet our obligations to BNI Life customers, therefore we invest in assets that are safe but can provide optimal returns," said Arry.


According to him, what causes investment returns to continue to grow during this pandemic, namely, investment strategies in the selection of investment assets, investment composition and utilization of every momentum to gain profits are very important to be able to continue to grow during this pandemic.
