When your little one looks ready to go through toilet training, here are things you can do:
Start by explaining how to use the toilet to urinate and defecate. Tell him that when he wants to pee or defecate, he needs to go to the toilet and take off his diaper or underwear.
So that your little one is "closer" to the toilet, set an example for him regarding the use of the toilet. For example, when you want to pee, ask your child to go to the toilet, then sit on the toilet seat and explain what you are doing.
The next stage is to introduce the use of a special potty for children to him. You can put the potty in the bathroom and teach him to use it as if you were sitting on the toilet seat.
To make toilet training easier, wear pants that are easy to take off and wear independently. Next, teach him how to use the toilet, such as:
• Teach the correct way to sit on the toilet
• Teach them how to clean their genitals after urinating and defecating
• Teaches how to press the flush button after every BAK or CHAPTER
• Shows the process of removing urine or feces from the bedpan to the toilet, if he uses the bedpan to urinate or defecate (this information is important to give so that the little one knows the last place to dispose of urine or feces is the toilet)
• Teach how to wash hands the right way after using the toilet
Make going to the toilet a routine. For example, after your little one wakes up, you can invite him to go to the toilet for a while to urinate. After 45 minutes or 1 hour of consuming a lot of fluids or eating too, ask him to sit on the potty.
By applying this, your little one will get used to using the potty or the toilet seat. So that your little one doesn't feel bored, take their favorite toys with them when they go to the toilet.
Give your little one praise for what he did during the toilet training process. Praise every activity that he managed to do to increase his confidence in the future.
Remember, during this process never leave your little one alone unattended in the bathroom or toilet to avoid accidents, such as slipping or putting something dangerous in his mouth.
Teaching children to use the toilet takes patience. Today they may want to take part in all the toilet training processes, but their wishes can change the next day. So, don't force it if your little one doesn't want to do it. Be patient until he really gets used to being without his diaper.
