Many people still rely on the neck as the main spot to spray perfume. However, according to fragrance experts, there are several other areas of the body that actually make the scent last longer and develop more optimally throughout the day.
Fragrance expert Bettina O'Neil said that the key to a perfume's longevity lies in warm and sweat-prone areas.
"For longer-lasting durability, spray on your hair, navel, nape, cleavage, behind the knees, and wrists, basically in areas that tend to sweat." "When you sweat, the scent will become active again," said O'Neil, as quoted by Real Simple.
Navel to hair, why is it effective?
According to O'Neil, the navel does sound unusual. However, this area is warm and slightly concave, which helps to 'trap' the scent and release it slowly throughout the day.
He also added that hair and textiles can retain scents longer than skin.
"Hair has porosity and absorbency, and it evaporates less. The same happens when you spray perfume on a scarf or clothing," he said.
Naturally, hair absorbs aromas from the environment due to its porous structure. Additionally, evaporation on hair is slower compared to skin, which continuously produces heat and natural oils.
The best points for making perfume last longer.
- Nape (back of the neck)
- To push
- Hair (from the middle to the ends, not the scalp)
- Cleavage
- Wrist (without rubbing)
- Inner elbow
- Clothing
